PRESENT: Mr. May, Mr. Rowley, Mr. Burtis, Mrs. Tassone, Ms. Cody, Mrs. Abbott-Kenan, Ms. Kuhn, Mr. Ryan, Dr. Chase, Mr. Holmquist, Mr. McBride, Mr. Bush, Mr. Jordan, Mr. Kinne, Mr. Williams, Mrs. Ervin, Chairman Knapp

Chairman Knapp called the 12:45 p.m. public hearing to order at 1:12 p.m. Clerk Maturo called the roll, read the notice of public hearing, and confirmed that the notice was duly published.

Chairman Knapp asked for speakers wishing to be heard:

Tom Law: “Given the proposed leasing of sewer systems, my lead in…given our metro community, use of precious and ordinary potable water, and taking responsibility for minimizing harm or harms from our sanitary sewer plant’s affluence, several positive leading questions. Also, before the statement of the questions, given the Onondaga County Legislature’s lead position in overall stewardship of our used water — flushed, pretreated, drainage water, with its load of food sediment, chemicals, fiber, etc. The questions: and these deserve some answer, I think, even if brief or referential, to see something else than the standards.

Question 1: What is the technical oversight structure of the sewer system we use here? The technical oversight structure; its standards are not eternally automatic and therefore, we don’t have to worry, it’s automatic.

Second question: Is this progressive in goals of improvement of results?

Question 3: Is the county discharge permit adequate to the load in challenges as they change and in the seasons?

Question 4: And this is it, as far as my time. Thus, finally with comparison of our affluent of the best tertiary treatment, 3 phase treatment – tertiary treatment, and within expense realism, where are we on the spectrum of the currently possible?

Thank your Mr. Chairman.”

Chairman Knapp asked if there were any other speakers wishing to be heard. Hearing none, Chairman Knapp closed the public hearing at 1:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

DEBORAH L. MATURO
Clerk, Onondaga County Legislature
